News Flash!!!!!

At the Chamber of Commerce dinner, Tuesday evening, July 17, 2007, the announcement was made that Miss Emma and J.Carol Graham have won the 2007-2008 Oakhurst Honorary Mayor's race, turning in over $35,000 in funds raised which equates to the same number of votes. The funds which go entirely to the EMC SPCA shelter fund will be invested while plans for the property and building go forward. The EMC SPCA and mountain area animals thank Emma and Carol, along     with her team for their tireless work to raise money for this campaign. We also want to thank the many people who turned in several thousand dollars in coins in the Change for Change promotion, mailed donations, and attended Emma's events. Those who donated a dollar were as important to the campaign as those who made large donations. It indicates to the EMCSPCA Board of Directors that we are, in fact, on the right track, and the communtiy is behind our effort to build a shelter that can house needy animals in a safe, clean, healthy environment while they await adoption. Thank you all for your generous support!

2007 Animal Faire and Tails on the Trail

Sunday, September 30, 2007

For the third year, we will combine our two biggest events......Tails on the Trail, and Animal Faire. Sign up for the Tails on the Trail dog walk begins at 9 a.m. at the gazebo in the Oakhurst Community Park, with the beautiful 1 mile walk along the Fresno River beginning at 10:00 a.m. Walkers ware encouraged to collect donations from friends and family and are eligible to win valuable prizes for most donations collected by an adult or youth. In 2006 the adult Lyle Swanson who raised over $1000.00 received an overnight stay  and dinner at the Chukchansi Casino and Resort, the youth, Jon Cash, who raised over $ 500.00 received 4 tickets to Magic Mountain.

Following the walk, people and their dogs will join us for the 9th Annual Animal Faire. There are contests every half hour, interesting demos all day. Many dogs share their talents in Best Kiss, Happiest Way, Musical Sit, 60 Second Ball Catch, All American Dog Show, Best Costume, Sierra Star Newspaper Fetch, and Best Trick. First, second and third prizes are awarded for all contests.

Father Gordon Kamai offers the blessing of the animals. Attendees enjoy watching Leap of Faith Flyball Team as they demonstrate their dogs' talent during the day. All proceeds from the Tails on the Trail Dog Walk and Animal Faire will benefit the programs to help needy animals in the mountain area...thank you for your generous support!

The Giant Raffle is always a huge hit!. Our local businesses are very generous in donating raffle items and in sponsoring our contests. We hope that you will offer them your support by shopping with them.

Be sure to print out your pledge sheet by clicking here. If you don't have a dog to walk, you can sponsor our mascot Dakota!
