Mission & History

To provide dogs and cats, in eastern Madera County, the services they need to increase their adoptability and to provide a safe and loving environment until they find their forever home.

Compassion: We value animals and people.

Collaboration: We value working as a team with agencies both public and private to achieve similar goals.

Innovation: We value being leaders in animal welfare.

Stewardship: We value our limited resources and those who support us.

Lives: We value the lives of the animals in our care and in our community.

The Eastern Madera County SPCA (EMCSPCA) was established in 1990 and is dedicated to ensuring the humane treatment of animals in eastern Madera County. The EMCSPCA is a local, independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization (77-0259186) and is supported through private contributions.  We are not affiliated with Madera County Animal Services, any other SPCA or Humane Society. The EMCSPCA Animal Care and Adoption Center in Ahwahnee was built without any federal, state, or county funding. The state-of-the-art shelter will provide a unique, healthy environment for dogs and cats awaiting their forever home.

The Eastern Madera County SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) will always work to protect the privacy of our donors. We hold all donor information in strict confidence and will not sell or exchange any donor information to any other organization. We will only use your information to contact you regarding your donation, to update you on our progress, and inform you of any upcoming EMCSPCA related events or fundraising campaigns. Please let us know at any time if you would like to receive fewer communications from us or no further communications and we will honor your request.
